So, in this poll you can vote for the individual dancer that is your favorite. You can vote for the couples on my other So You Think You Can Dance top 20 poll which I’ll post after tonight’show.

Asuka Kondoh & Ade Obayomi Top 20 So You Think You Can Dance Interview

Finally time to finish posting the other SYTYCD top 20 videos. This video is of Asuka Kondoh & Ade Obayomi. They actually are pretty candid about their experience in Las Vegas. Ade Obayomi was trying to sell himself a little bit too much to me. However, in the format of the show I don’t think we’ll really see that come out of him. Asuka was a real charmer. The judges got that dead on. I hope I’m not disappointed with her dancing come Wednesday. Her little laugh at the very end of the video is the perfect example of the little things she does that are so charming. Check out Asuka Kondoh & Ade Obayomi’s interview for the SYTYCD top 20.

My Personal Favorites on SYTYCD 2009

It’s kind of early to pick a true favorite since some of the So You Think You Can Dance top 20 we barely know. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have some early favorites. Here are my favorite dancers from the SYTYCD top 20:

Caitlin Kinney – I don’t know why I fell in love with this girl, but I did the first time I saw her dance. I like her look. I love the way she carries herself. She was a little emotional, but once you become a fan of someone you let things like that slide. She does seem kind of tall (or am I just seeing it wrong) which should prove interesting in doing the partnering.
Janette Manrara – Amazing lines and incredibly beautiful to watch dance. I’m interested to see more of her personality, but I’m certain the choreographers will have a hay day creating routines for her.
Asuka Kondoh – Representing ballroom and Japan all at once. I’m going to love watching her dance. I’m just afraid that her dancing will have to do the talking. I see her not doing as well in the personality department, but I guess we’ll see. I still love her dancing.

Vitolio Jeune – I think this guy is going to make us laugh every week. We haven’t seen much of his dancing, but someone who can make us laugh is going to do well.
Tony Bellissimo – He’s not a true favorite of mine, but I think he’s going to provide some nice storylines. My 2 predicted storylines: 1. Hitting on Cat (like Dominic) 2. Showing huge improvement like Ivan did on SYTYCD Season 2.
Phillip Chbeeb – I hope that he’s in the bottom 3 every week so we get to see him do a solo. I think he’s also going to shock us with the various styles. I could be wrong, but I think he’s going to impress us.

I can’t wait for next week’s performance shows.

Predicting the So You Think You Can Dance Top 20

My fellow So You Think You Can Dance friend posted their potential So You Think You Can Dance 2009 Top 20. I love the idea and if I hadn’t been spending so much time on the So You Think You Can Dance music, I’d do the same (in fact, I did previously post a few So You Think You Can Dance 2009 top 20 locks. However, that was only after the first audition. Now the auditions are complete and we’re going into Vegas. So, despite my lack of time, here’s Nate’s potential top 20:

The Top 10 Boys
Sammy Ramirez (LA)
Maksim Kapitannikov (New York)
Evan Kasprzak (Memphis)
Phillip Chebeeb (LA)
Chimezie Nwosu (New York)
Marico Flaka (Memphis)
Brandon Bryant (Denver)
Peter Sabasino (New York)
Alex Wong (Miami)
Ryan Kasprzak (Memphis)

The Top 10 Girls
Natalie Reid (Denver)
Jeanette Manrara (Miami)
Bianca Revels (LA)
Kayla Rodamski (Denver)
Kelsea Taylor (Seattle)
Gabi Rojas (New York)
Megan Kinney (Note: NOT Caitlin. We may have only seen like 15 seconds of Megan, but I was captivated) (Miami)
Priscilla Marrero (Miami)
Asuka Kondoh (LA)
Anna Dunn (Miami)

His locks for the So You Think You Can Dance top 20 are: Evan Kasprzak, Phillip Chebeeb, Brandon Bryant, Natalie Reid, Bianca Revels, Gabi Rojas, and Asuka Kondoh.

I have to disagree with a couple of the choices. The guys actually look pretty solid. I’m a little scared the Phillip Chebeeb might not make it, but then again they need a bit of diversity of talent in the top 20 to make the show more interesting to watch.

Where I have to disagree is with the top 10 girls. I’d probably take Kelsea Taylor off the list since she was wonderful in her style, but she might not be able to go beyond her own unique talent. I wouldn’t be surprised if by some weird act Natalie Reid doesn’t pull through. Possibly Mia’s choreography or something. I also have to put Caitlin Kinney into my top 10 girls. She was fantastic. Caitlin Kinney and Kayla Radomski were my two favorite auditions for this season of So You Think You Can Dance.

Man, just as I say that I look through the rest of the list and realize that there are so many talented people on that list. I’m still surprised that the ballroom dancers haven’t been showing up. No Chelsie Hightower on the list. No Benji Schwimmer or Lacey Schwimmer for that matter. Although I do think it’s good that Asuka Kondoh is on the list.

Anyone else as excited as I am about this week’s So You Think You Can Dance? I just wish I would have gotten in contact with the So You Think You Can Dance producers when they were actually doing the Las Vegas auditions and found a way to go and check out the talent first hand. Maybe next season.

Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun Talk About SYTYCD 2009

Turns out that Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun already seem to have a rather nice fan following from their previous appearance on So You Think You Can Dance. I mentioned in one of my other posts that I agreed with the judges about Asuka being a really special dancer and a few people told me that they really loved Ricky. Good news for Ricky.

Fans of Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun will enjoy this video of them after last year’s SYTYCD auditon. It’s nice to see Ricky actually get a chance to talk. It’s very true that I haven’t seen many asian ballroom dancers, but these two are really wonderful to watch.

Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun SYTYCD 2009 Audition

The camera does like Asuka. You had to know she was a shoe in for Las Vegas after having been there already. Still is a lot of fun to see her audition again. I must admit that I’m a little surprised at the lines that Asuka is able to create. Asians have such small frames. I wonder if she’s really short and how she’d look alongside someone who’s taller. Either way, Ricky and Asuka were both nice dancers.

The thing that Asuka has more than Ricky is the little nuances that attract people to her. The little roll of the shoulder acting shy, the twist of the hips, etc. Some people are just have that quality that attracts you to them. Although, it’s also a quality that may make a bunch of girls hate her. We’ll see how that plays out.

Enjoy the performance of Asuka Kondoh and Ricky Sun to the music “Mercy” Duffy - Rockferry - Mercy by Duffy Read more..
