Mia Will Still Choreograph!

Korbi (who reported from Vegas Week for Zap2it.com and who looks just a little like Glee‘s Rachel Berry) just Tweeted:

Mia says her new role as a permanent judge this season will NOT keep her from choreographing: http://bit.ly/cR8YlR #SoYouThinkYouCanDance 11 minutes ago via web

That’s exciting news! It makes sense since Nigel Tweeted that Mary would still guest judge. So I guess Mary will sit in (or someone else will) when Mia choreographs. Yaaaaaay! The best of every possible world. What do you think?

SYTYCD Season 7 Twist

I just read an article where Nigel reveals yet another twist this season.

Nigel also tweeted another twist on SYTYCD this season. Dancers will not be told if they’ve made the top 10 in the studio but in their homes.

Not sure how I feel about this one. What do you think, y’all?

SYTYCD 7: Mia Michaels joins Nigel and Adam Shankman as Permanent Judges

Just released this morning:

Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels and acclaimed director and choreographer Adam Shankman will return to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE as the series’ resident judges.

Nigel seems to be rather thrilled about the new addition:

“I am extremely happy that Mia and Adam have returned and agreed to be resident judges,” […] “Mia’s outspoken approach combined with Adam’s passion will definitely add a fresh new chemistry to the panel.”

My only question is… Does this mean she won’t be choreographing this season? I remember earlier that Mary stepped down from the panel so she could choreograph…

What do you guys think? Don’t forget that Season 7 will premiere on Fox on Thursday May 27.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

SYTYCD on Glee’s Bad Reputation

Thanks to commenter Ben for pointing out SYTYCD alum on two musical numbers from Glee’s recent episode, “Bad Reputation.”

Here’s his comment:

I found one for Total Eclipse of the Heart, which features Melissa (quite obviously) and possibly Brandon.

http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/05/05/glee-total-eclipse-of-the-heart/

And here’s a link with a video for “Let’s Get Physical” which features Brandon and what’s-his-name. You’ll be able to pick him out.

http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/deep-dish/2010/05/of-glee-i-sing-lets-get-physical.html

In the “Total Eclipse of the Heart” routine, we get glimpses of Brandon and Melissa throughout, but Melissa is really prominent at 42:05 on the right of Jesse. She’s got her “Naughty Ballerina” face on, her expression saying something along the lines of, “Naught Ballerina’s gonna steal your man.”

“Let’s Get Physical” is basically an homage to Brandon’s butt, at least once you stop looking at Olivia Newton-John and Sue Sylvester. The first time his face is really prominent is 26:37 and then again at 26:50. His butt’s super prominent at the end. 🙂

As for Ben’s “what’s-his-name” in the “Let’s Get Physical” segment, I’m not sure who he’s talking about. I thought Ryan Di Lello would have the physique for it, but I didn’t see him. Maybe Nathan with a shaved head? What do y’all think? [UPDATE: Thanks to commenter Julia (and SYTYCDism) for pointing out that it’s Jonathan Platero!]

Odd and Random SYTYCD 5/7/10

Remember that Katie Holmes post I did a little while back? Well, recently she danced and sang “Whatever Lola Wants” at the A Fine Romance benefit gala – using her husband Tom Cruise as a partner/prop. Most of the videos have been pulled, but check out this partial in a BBC news report: Read more..

Wade Robson Dancing to SYTYCD’s Sexy Back Routine in Singapore Video (2006)

I love this guy. I’ve been a fan of Wade’s before he choreographed on SYTYCD and I love his work. I just happened to find this on You Tube because I wanted to re-watch the Season 2 final 4 group performance of Sexy Back and this is what I found. Enjoy!

I also managed to find the Remix of the song that was featured on the show (features music videos of Justin Timberlake):

Wade, I would love to learn from you one day, I hope you come back to Australia to teach some more dancers your wonderful moves!

Odd and Random SYTYCD 5/2/10

First – Ellenore dishes on her beauty secrets. Did you know she’s working with the deodorant Secret? It’s mentioned in her interview on this blog, but I haven’t been able to find anything else out. If you do, let us know!

Next, you have to read this “Conversation with Parks and Recreation‘s Nick Offerman” for a hidden gem. Nick Offerman could otherwise be known as Mr. Megan Mullally, and in this interview, he talks about her past as a ballerina and their love of So You Think You Can Dance (look about 3/4s of the way down). Whoo hoo, shout out!

Then, check out this wonderful interview with one of my personal favorite SYTYCD alumni (and now a Season 7 All-Star), Lauren Gottlieb. She talks about being on Glee and also being on Ghost Whisperer with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Dang, guess I missed out by not watching that. 🙂 Luckily, we can probably still catch it on Hulu or something.

Apparently, Cat has a QVC line of jewelry? And one of her Cat Deely Vintage for QVC bracelets was featured in this month’s InStyle Magazine, according to the blog. Check out this cute feature on Cat from last year. Aha! After some poking around on the InStyle website, I found this little write up about Cat and QVC. But, I haven’t been able to find the actual bracelet the blog piece mention. Somebody buy the issue and scan the pic in! 🙂

And then last, but not least, dance has become a serious political issue in England, due in part to the popularity of shows like “Strictly Come Dancing” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”

[11:28 p.m. Addition: Just had to add this one. Has nothing to do with SYTYCD, except maybe this guy should be a dance guest on an elimination night this season. Lol. Seen here.]
