SYTYCD Top 6 (Again!) Results Discussion
WHO is going home tonight? Well, I should say, which two dancers? Do you think Lauren’s injury is serious enough to eliminate her or was that just a tease on SYTYCD’s part? This is YOUR spot for all your thoughts on tonight’s results show, so speak up!!!
I hope not Lauren!!!! Nigel posted this on his twitter:
Sorry I can’t tell you what the problem was with Lauren until I speak with her and her Doctor later today. I just don’t know at this point.
Oops, I forgot to mention this:
Lauren will not be performing in the opening and won’t dance unless she’s in the bottom 3.
@dizzyfeet: I am happy to say Lauren will be in the studio later today. She won’t be in the opening number and won’t dance unless she’s in the bottom 3.
Optimistic: Jose and Robert
Realistic: Jose and Robert
Pessimistic: Adechike.
@Tiffany: I think that’s (subtle) good news. Even though she’s not dancing in the opening, which is sad, she won’t be automatically in the bottom 3 (unless he didn’t get votes, which I find hard to believe) because she DID dance in the performance show, unlike the other injured parties. So even if she needs to rest up (i.e., not dance in the opening), she won’t get booted unless the doctors say she can’t dance. I’m hopeful she’s not that injured/sick because she made it through the night for the most part.
@Beth: I’d honestly rather lose Adechike than Robert, even with my new-found appreciation of him.
Well, Emilie, that doesn’t exactly shock me. 😉
@beth: Well…at least I’m finally sad about potentially losing him… Right?
Indeed. I’ll take that improvement. 🙂
Oh Lord, Nigel just wrote OMG on his Twitter, what is the world coming to?! Hahaha. Looks like the opening number is gonna be epic, 10 guys and Allison.
@beth: Baby steps.
@Margaret: Oh to be Allison tonight.
you said it sister, I’ll kill to be in her shoes tonight
Was that supposed to be Lauren? Anyway, it was amazing. And it reminds me what Mia does best… I’ve loved her so long because of the show, it’s so foreign for me to dislike her as I have kinda been lately. But man, she can choreograph. And that routine was dark and sinuous and playful. And yeah, I wish I were in Allison’s pink tulle tutu tonight… 🙂
anyone else notice that Kathryn and Allison are the only girls to have danced every week this season? Everyone else has been absent at least 2 weeks.
wait, I take that back, Allison missed a week b/c of her injury, my bad.
Huh?? What???!!!! WTH??? Bottom 3 just revealed! Incredible!!
SPOILERS – Sorry, but it has to be said. Bottom 3 is whack and looks like Jose and Billy are going home.
***Spoiler Alert*** Unless Lauren’s injury is worse than expected. Notice how they are not saying what the problem was with her.
***Conspiracy Alert*** I’m telling you, if she goes home I will be under the impression that this show is rigged for Kent to win! It will confirm that the judges are sneaking around backstage and taking out the competition one by one. :)~
@Cynthia: Kent could actually win on his own. Maybe they’re rigging it for Jose.
I know but I don’t think Kent would win is Alex was still dancing. *sigh*
No, not if Alex were still in it.
On another note, sorry for my crankiness, but this has to be said. Maybe I’m getting old or something, but that musical guest, Christian TV, sucked. That song was a huge waste of time and he didn’t even sing that well. It was just badly written, too and I didn’t think its hook was all that great for a catchy summer pop song.
***spoiler/conspiracy thoughts***
I think that from what was said at the end of last night about Lauren being with the medics made people not vote for her because they assumed she’d just be in bottom 3 due to injury.
And her injury can’t be “worse than expected” if she’s still dancing a solo. I just hope she doesn’t go home 🙁
Side note: I’m still surprised that this season never shifted control entirely to the audience with just judge commentary like it did at top10 last season because I know that got a very positive reaction from viewers.
love your site….totally agree with comment on musical guest…really sucked bad…..not so sure about this american idol alum either….
@ Emilie Nope, you’re not being cranky. My hubby and I looked at each other and said “Wow, this guy really can’t sing!”
@ Rachel There was a big campaign to save Robert so I think that may have swayed things a little.
@Rachel: Check out my thoughts post later – that was totally my feeling, too. That they never should’ve mentioned that Lauren was with the medic. Maybe they should’ve just kept all the contestants backstage and had the All-Stars dance. They totally screwed her. After two withdrawals due to injury, why would anyone vote for someone who’s also injured? They don’t feel like their votes are couting.
@ABnew: I’m glad I’m not alone regarding this Christian TV. But hold up on my lovely Allison Iraheta. 🙂 OK, so I don’t *love* the song, but I enjoyed watching her and Orianthi rock out. Read later for my thoughts regarding the back up dancers for both musical performers…
okay (-: I will give Orianthi mad props–she was amazing…I liked Allison on the show…just didn’t care about this song.
So sad Billy is going home.)-: his solo was so unique
I concur on the musical guest. My husband and I just stared at the tv like “wha…???”
He reminded me of Vanilla Ice. lol
Anyhow, the american idol girl was great and I love Orianthi. So that was cool. I don’t watch idol, so that was a pleasant introduction to her.
I was shocked about the bottom 3. But not about who went home. Billy was in the bottom 5 weeks in a row. I mean, he’s going home. America has spoken. And repeated itself. I disagree with Nigel, though–don’t think it’s his “androgyny” inasmuch as its his perceived standoffishness throughout the series.
Wonder if it’s always been Lauren behind Adechike or if that’s just a fluke? I’d LOVE to see the vote totals from the past few months…
@ABnew: I’m protective of the performers I love. Lol. I think you’re right on with your comment, all around. Orianthi was amazing – and it was unexpected for her not to duet, to just rock her guitar. So cool to see two rock chicks together. That kinda made me love the performance, even if the song’s not that great. And you’re SO right about Billy. I think he was fairly sure he was going and so he decided to fight anyway, if only to leave on a high note and to make folks (choreographers) remember why they love him.
@beth: I think the problem is that music producers are going after younger and younger audiences…and they think they’re stupid, apparently. Where did that guy come from? I’m irked cause it would’ve been fun to see Black Gold on the show and I feel like they wasted a performance slot on something less than mediocre.
@emilie:
He was just darned embarrassing. I kept saying–I hope that song sounds better when it’s not live, because otherwise, bleck.
And hated the whole “synchronized swimming” themed dancers. It was like that one birth control commercial–you know, for the nuva-ring or whatever? lol
@beth: Lol. I liked the idea of the swimmers, but it didn’t work very well. And at the end, it just seemed like they were thrashing. I was SO disappointed that was Kherington’s big moment back on the show. Didn’t even realize she was in that mob of women. I’m getting sick of the “dozen women, 1 man” scenario in musical performances. Perpetuating some seriously bad stereotypes here.
Yea, the music tonight really sucked.
I was definitely shocked at the bottom 3- I was prepping myself for a goodbye to Robert. Nonetheless, when Lauren was put into the bottom 3 I figured Billy would go, even though it would be very hard to see him go. I kind of feel like what Adam said last night- he just really entered the competition. Last week I wouldn’t have been upset to lose him. This week I was.
And where was the all-star performance?!
@Emily: Good point! I would’ve easily given up that sucky 2nd musical performance for ANY routine by the All-Stars. Any All-Star, any combination. Any choreographer, any music, any dance.
Phew! So glad Lauren wasn’t sent home. I will miss Billy though. Such a talented dancer, he will go far in his career and I wish him well.
So the final 4 has been selected and the power goes back to the viewers…this should be interesting.
Oh hey, did anybody notice the suspicious abundance of Gatorade products in the clips from the previous night, after the announcement about the sport endorsement thing? Perhaps it was just a psychological thing and that once the brand Gatorade was mentioned it was something that caught my eye, while before it was just in the scene. Though the first commercial at break was a Gatorade commercial, and I know that’s new because I’ve been paying attention to the new/different commercials because I just moved. Like I saw a Chik-fil-a commercial for the first time!
Oops. I ramble.
i’m happy, thrilled with the results.
wonder if billy regrets not dancing last week?
LOVE the top 4!
can’t wait for next week!
Finally…WE get control of the votes!
Agreed on us getting control! I like the top 4. 🙂
This season has actually been pretty enjoyable for me.
And I am so excited about gatorade! I’m a big (huge) sports fan, and it feels good to see dance get recognized like that, even if it is just a marketing ploy.
So… apparently there wasn’t an all-star performance tonight (from your comments), which SHATTERS my dreams of a Dombra reunion. I’m hearbroken. 🙁
I meant heartbroken.
Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, a result comes out of left field. I bet 99% of the audience thought that Robert was going to be in the bottom three when he was paired with Lauren. It goes to show what happens when people use their votes to keep someone else safe rather than voting for their favorite. I know my wife had me shift votes to Robert from Lauren. Multiply that by 100,000+ people and the results can really differ.
I’m sure that Billy and Jose looked at each other when Lauren was put into the bottom three and said, “That’s all, folks.”
[…] I’ve kinda given away some of my thoughts over on the discussion post. Just had to get them out. But here I […]
@Emilie (and pretty much everyone), yes, that “music” guy was godawful. Thankfully halfway though I realized I could fast forward, lol.
I do love Alison Iraheta 🙂 “DWTP” is good, but she needs to put out “D is for Dangerous”!
How much do I love Robert?? His face!!! His face when Cat told him he was safe, the “Wait.” It was just like when he thought he made the top 10 and Billy didn’t and he was all “Noo.” Least arrogant guy I’ve ever seen, sideburns or no (lol). Love him.
Urrrghh, Billy and his freakin’ adorable ruffles and his crazy genius solo. Good job really making it hurt when they sent you home, Billy! *still watching Mad World*
Jose danced in the group number. That’s good, lol.
I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the top 4. So, the “finale” this season is top 2? Or 3?
Not sure why anyone would have picked Adechike to be in the bottom as he never has been all season. It was so time for Billy to go home. If Alex were still in the competition, Kent would have taken it anyway. The people who vote on this show do not like more somewhat feminine male dancers. They can make it to the finals but ALWAYS lose. Brandon, Jacob, Danny, Travis…
